• Chocolate Chip Cookie: we voted this the best chocolate chip cookie in NYC. It was buttery but not overwhelmingly so, large enough that it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Really, it was just SO SO good.
• Brookster: this half & half treat was pretty incredible.  Half was that delicious chocolate chip cookie described above, and half was baked’s incredible brownie. There was the perfect amount of chocolate flavor, especially when you got a bite of chocolate chip too – perfect for any chocoholic!  I was in heaven.

Other Facts:

• Hours: Mon-Fri: 7am-7pm; Sat & Sun: 8am-7pm
• Getting There: From Manhattan, you can take a subway to Brooklyn which takes about 10 min, then you have to hop on the bus right outside the subway stop.  The bus takes about 20 min and stops right outside of baked.  It takes a little while to get there so plan wisely!  But it is worth it!  The other option is a cab – we took one from the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge which took about 20 min and cost about $20.
• They also have a full-service cafe with coffee drinks and tea
• Seating: I was surprised by how small the space is for such a successful bakery- they have about 3 booths and some window seats. But it is a super cute, rustic little cafe, so grab a cookie, your cup of joe, and a table to hang out and relax from the day!

Want to know more about my history with baked?  Well here it is!

I am a “fan” of baked on Facebook and as such, my fb feed pops up with their status for the day, typically with pictures of delicious new creations.  One day in February their status read “Looking for a bakery manager. Send resumes here…”  My dream job is to work in a bakery, and working at my favorite bakery?  That’s an even better dream!  So I figured, why not apply?  Sure, I had no real bakery experience and sure, I live in Portland, Oregon, nowhere near Brooklyn, but what’s the worst that can happen, right?  I figured since my resume wasn’t going to be too impressive with my lack of bakery experience that I would spice up my cover letter a bit – the subject of my email read “Get me out of my cubicle! CPA seeks Bakery Manager job.”  I have to say the email was pretty funny but also hit the point that I actually wanted the job.

Well while I didn’t get the job (not surprising!), I did get a response back from the owner!  It was seriously like getting a response to a piece of fan mail you send to a celebrity.  It was definitely thing I could have hoped for and now the printed email is on the inside cover of my Baked cookbook, so I can feel part of the bakery each time I open it to make a tasty delicious treat.
