Despite having just turned 31, I have a lot of child-like interests. Am I overly jazzed about our upcoming trip to Harry Potter World in Orlando? Heck yes, I am. Did Brice just bring me a giant teddy bear that is almost as tall as me? Why yes, he did. Do I also still love getting dressed up and having a tea party? Like girls of any age, of course I do!
I’m spoiled enough to have enjoyed quite the number of teas around the world.
The Connaught in London – This was the quintessential experience in the motherland of tea. I went with my friend Ashley when I went to visit her in London a few years ago. It was like a fairy tale with the traditional teas, beautiful china, and the outstanding spread. I still dream of the fresh scones and clotted cream. {Read more from my 2011 post here}
Sky on 57 in Singapore – This was one of the most fun afternoons we had during our 2-month sabbatical adventure through Asia. We enjoyed a decadent tea on the rooftop of the Marina Bay Sands hotel.
At 57 floors up, you could see the whole city, complete with views of the harbour. Brice especially loved seeing the shipping boats coming in and out.
Plus, when Brice asked for coffee along with tea, he got this amazing snowman! Seriously, such talent!
The Fairmont Empress in Victoria – When we headed up to BC this summer, I kept hearing how beautiful the Fairmont Empress is and how their afternoon tea is a must-do. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary!
The Heathman in Portland – While this might be the closest tea, it doesn’t mean it is any less amazing. The Heathman has had a long-standing tradition of hosting Holiday Tea during the winter months and I have taken full advantage of this by going with girl friends the past few years. From November 27 through January 3rd, they dress up the mezzanine of the hotel in full yuletide decorations, including a floor-to-ceiling beautiful Christmas tree. With the perfect amount of finger sandwiches, cakes and scones, it is a delicious spread. And seriously, such a great way to celebrate the season! {Read more from another 2011 post here – esh! These are old!}

I really enjoyed this entry, Erin. I saw your entry about the Connaught and it took me back. I traveled to the UK in third grade with my grandparents for a horse show. We stayed at the Connaught for a few days while in London. I evenn met Barry Manilow in the lobby. Thanks for the flashback 🙂

We have to chat more about this. I used to ride horses 🙂 I’m jealous you stayed at the Connaught. What a stunning hotel!

That snowman! I know it’s a silly thing, but I love the presentation in latte art.
bakerybingo says
Nothing silly about that! I completely agree that latte art is so impressive when done well! We loved this snowman! It was so amazing!

So happy to see another tea-related post other than my own! And a love of tea parties is not limited to age . . . or gender. We have to compare notes on your tea globetrotting.
The only one I’ve done on that list is the Empress. Worth every penny.
bakerybingo says
We loved the Empress! It was such a beautiful space and great selection of treats. Would love to compare more tea notes – I’m sure yours are much more detailed though! 🙂

Wow, amazing photos! It’s so fun to go out for tea. I have a some great memories of having tea with my girlfriends throughout the years. I’ve been to the Empress in Victoria. It was a lovely experience.

Tea is such a fun way to spend the day with friends I’ve found!

Oh, I love the Heathman Tea! My friends and I do a Christmas Tea every year and we alternate between the Heathman and a tea house near my house (Tea’s Me…not nearly as fancy at the Heathman, but I think their food and teas are much better).

Oh! I will have to check out Tea’s Me!
