My good friend Ashley lives in London so I decided after my work trip to Helsinki that it would be so great to visit her. She planned a whole fun-filled weekend, mostly revolving around food since she knows me so well 🙂
So yesterday morning, we headed out to Borough Market, a giant and amazing farmer’s market (basically heaven on earth for me!). There are rows and rows of booths filled with amazing goodies…
Fresh produce stands with beautiful vegetables
Spices that would probably kill me
Giant ostrich eggs
Slightly awkward list of exotic meats (I mean really, a zebra?!)
A pretty tasty veggie burger from The Veggie Table booth (I got weird looks for taking this picture and even heard some guy say “that girl is taking a photo of her lunch!” Hey, I’m a blogger now! It’s totally legit!)
And the really good stuff! 🙂 Cakehole Bakery…
…Ashley got the last slice of their incredibly moist and tasty Lemon Almond Cake…
…I decided to go with multiple cookies from the Cinnamon Tree Bakery (I got suckered into getting 4, they were 1 for £1.50 or 4 for £5 and they all looked so good I agreed. Whoops!) Their brownie was SO good, filled with white chocolate chips and 70% cocoa chocolate chips – somehow it was also gluten-free but you would never know. The Pecan and Orange Shortbread Cookie was also delicious – a nice hint of orange and a sweet pecan crust.
…I also got a White Chocolate and Sea Salt Cookie and a really good Cowboy Cookie with oats, chocolate chips, dried cherries, cranberries, pecans and coconut! It was crisp and so much great flavor.
They also had Cinnamon Elephant Cookies and Gingerbread Man Cookies – how cute!
And super adorable Owl Cookies!
Such a fun market and so much to see, I didn’t want to leave!
Today was filled with more incredible food-based activities like English Afternoon Tea – so more London posts coming soon!

That all looks way better than my Lean Cuisines 🙁
The exotic meats stand begs the question, how do you know it’s zebra? Even The Carnivore in Kenya has gone steak only so I’m skeptical of a place in London that’s selling bushmeat.
