Yesterday I attended a Halloween-themed cupcake decorating class taught by Saint Cupcake‘s Jami Curl, which was such a blast! Jami is so great – very down to earth, funny, personable and a great baker. She taught us the secret behind Saint Cupcake’s fantastic rich, moist chocolate cupcakes with hot fudge frosting, plus homemade marshmallows. Once the cupcakes were baked and the hot fudge was prepared, we got down to business – learning to decorate. While my decorating skills are still a little lacking, I had so much fun and got to bring home some delicious treats to share!
Great Amateur Cooking Classes: Le Cordon Bleu MasterChef
I’ve been asked a couple times lately about where to take cooking classes in Portland. Yes, I’ve gone to my fair share of cooking classes so I am excited to give suggestions!
As Portland is quickly becoming a true foodie city, there are quite a few options. I think where you end up going really depends on what you are looking for.
Are you looking for a night out where you can get a demonstration on cooking, have a glass of wine, and chat with your significant other/friends you are with?
Worth the Wait: Tasty n Sons
3808 N Williams Ave & NE Failing St • 503.621.1400 • tastynsons.com
I have been dying to try out brunch at Tasty n Sons for quite some time. Finally I convinced some friends this morning that it would be worth the wait for a table! Fortunately the food was just as incredible as I was told, so it was definitely worth it!
We arrived around 9:15am and were told it would be about an hour. After somewhat impatiently waiting, we got seated near their open kitchen. The menu is filled with so many incredible options – all very different and unique, and all sounded fantastic. There were so many choices, I could barely narrow it down. Ok, in fact, I didn’t – I ended up getting two entrees with a friend instead. I mean check out some of these items:
