I have now also heard back from Marc Frankel of Lovejoy Bakers! I mentioned Marc in my earlier blog on Lovejoy Bakers – he is the co-owner I see almost every time I go there, so it was especially great to hear from him. As he is basically living my dream of owning an awesome local bakery, I was particularly excited to hear that he loves every minute of being there; it “never really feels like work,” Marc said. Someday maybe that will be me 🙂
While my earlier post and Bakery Bingo in general may focus on desserts and pastries, I can’t say enough about how good the sandwiches are at Lovejoy Bakers. I mentioned one of my favorite Lovejoy Bakers sandwiches – the Mediterranean, which I get almost every time I stop by because it is so delicious. But Marc has given me a list of other sandwiches to try as they are his favorites – the Cubano made with ham, roast pork and provolone cheese; the Lamb Meatball with harissa aioli (harissa is a Middle Eastern paste made with chiles, garlic and cumin), the Egg Salad with lemon zest and chives; and the Banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich with tri-tip steak and peanuts. Especially on their freshly made baguettes and rolls, I can only imagine how good these sandwiches are.
Speaking of their fresh breads, Marc told me that his other menu favorites are any of their breakfast sandwiches. “There is nothing better than to start your day with a cup of Stumptown Coffee, a crispy fresh baked Ciabatta Roll filled with creamy scrambled eggs, and sweet butter. A little touch of Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper and I am in heaven.” Fortunately you can turn that wonderful morning dream into a reality at Lovejoy Bakers.
