I am a big-time fruit fiend. So much so Brice has nicknamed me the “fruit predator.” If there is fruit, I will consume it. When it was Hood Strawberry season, I regularly downed pints standing over the sink by myself. Also walking back from the Farmer’s Market. Also driving home from the store. I have problems. I can’t help it. I just really love me some good fruit. That is one reason I always get sad when the fall approaches, not only is it the end of beautiful weather and long days, but also the end of fresh fruit season.
But Oregon Fruit Products is helping remedy this problem with their Pourable Fruit, a new diced fruit sauce made with real fresh fruit picked in peak Oregon berry season.
This Salem-based company is celebrating its 80th year in business and has perfected jarring and bottling Oregon fruits, not adding coloring or high-fructose corn syrup so it isn’t overly sweet. It makes for a great, simple addition for something like ice cream sundaes, yogurt or drinks.
I thought it’d be delicious in a summertime cocktail. My friend brought over some strawberry-infused tequila, I provided the mixers, and we enjoyed a nice drink on the patio! Perfect for a summer evening.
All you’ve got to do is defrost the Pourable Fruit bottle for a few hours before you want to use it and you’ve got fresh berries ready for you!
Strawberry Tequila Spritzer:
Makes 1 drink
2 oz Pourable Fruit Strawberry
2 oz tequila (flavored like I used, or regular)
1 oz limeade
2 oz sparkling water
Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes. Cap and shake. Garnish with lime slice or a strawberry wedge if you want to get classy. Enjoy!
Where to Find:
- In the freezer aisle at your local Fred Meyer stores (note: they are going through a packaging change so they may still be found under “Berrst” at Fred Meyer)
Oregon Fruit Products generously sent me a sample to review. But as always all thoughts are my own!

Why didn’t you name your blog Fruit Predator?? It is so much more edgy than BB! And we all know you are the edgiest!

Love this! I super love tequila cocktails, but they aren’t as popular so there aren’t as many options… I think I will have to give this a shot!

Fruit is my problem as well. (Hold the tequila.)

Pourable fruit! What will they come up with next? Will have to look for this at the store. I have the tequila. 🙂

I love how Pourable Fruit is so easy to add to anything and just a little goes a long way in flavor so that bottle is a huge value!! I miss Oregon strawberry season still (The flats we buy never last more than 24 hours at my home. And of course flats because a pint would be gone before reaching home), why is it so short!

Haha, “fruit predator”! That’s amazing! I love me some fruit too, and that recipe looks delicious. I’m all for a cocktail that isn’t overly sweet.

Club soda, fresh whole strawberries, and frozen daiquiri mix set these margarita spritzers apart. Serve on sultry summer days and enjoy the fizzy sweetness of these colorful cocktails.
