Never Too Cold for Pumpkin Ice Cream: Cool Moon

I filled out a survey a little while back that asked “If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one type of food, what would you bring?” I responded with “SQUASH!” My friends mocked me for about 10 minutes and still like to laugh about it months later. In my mind, squash is the perfect thing to take – I mean, it’s nutritious AND tasty!

In particular I really, really love pumpkin (but I didn’t want to discriminate in my survey answer). Probably my favorite part of fall is the pumpkin everything – pumpkin bread, pumpkin lattes, and of course pumpkin ice cream! Continue Reading...

Unicorn Magic: Salt & Straw Ice Cream

I recently read about this new North Portland ice cream shop featuring wacky flavors, like Pear with Blue Cheese or Brown Ale with Bacon. I will admit, I was a little apprehensive – what kind of flavors are those? What happened to the oldie but goodies like Cookies & Cream? But in the spirit of becoming a true foodie, I decided to put on my adventurous eater hat and head over there.
