Thursday Tours: Baby Friendly Spots

It’s getting to be about that time in life. My friends are starting to have adorable little ones! While I have no doubt life changes quite a bit once a baby comes along, that doesn’t mean those new parents shouldn’t be able to go explore the Portland restaurant scene like the rest of us! So for this #ThursdayToursPDX edition, Meredith and I called on two lovely bloggers who recently had babies. Lindsay, who writes a beautiful blog called Rosemarried with gorgeous photos and recipes featuring seasonal, local produce, has the cutest little girl named Margot. (Seriously, don’t believe me? Check out her Instagram!)

My friend Jane of In The Pink and Green is the mom of 6-month-old Henry, one incredibly smiley, adorable boy. Her favorites are on Martha Chartreuse today, so be sure to check those out too! Even if you don’t have kids of your own, these are all top notch places to add to your list!

Baby Friendly Spots by Lindsay of Rosemarried:

East Glisan Pizza: There’s a lot of great pizza in Portland, and East Glisan makes some of the best pies I’ve had in town. Lucky for me, they’re right up the street from my house. They’re very kid-friendly (high chairs, arcade games, etc), they play Blazers games, and the food and service is excellent. If I had to choose, I’d say my favorite of their pizzas is the Broccoli Rapini with garlic oil, lemon, and chili flake.

 

Eb & Bean: Where do I start? This place is just special. The flavors are incredibly unique, and use only the best local ingredients. On a recent visit to Eb & Bean, I got a bowl of their strawberry rhubarb frozen yogurt, topped with cinnamon sugar donuts and whipped cream. (I also took a pint of cereal milk frozen yogurt to go). It should also be noted that they also MAKE THEIR OWN MAGIC SHELL. Oh, and they have darling little mini tables for the kiddos. If you have children of the yogurt-eating age, bring them here!

Pollo Norte: A whole rotisserie chicken with tortillas and two large sides will only set you back $24. It’s affordable and awesome. They have indoor and outdoor seating, beer on tap (and a sparkling rosé!), and they don’t run out of chicken anymore! (They used to sell out every night, but recently expanded their refrigerator space so they can store more chickens!) Bonus: the Kim Jong Grillin truck is now parked on their patio! Double the delicious!

Yatiamura Maru: This is a great little spot on Division, and they specialize in Japanese pub food. Their happy hour is the jam ($5 ramen!) and the place is always filled with young families, slurping ramen with their kiddos. The sushi is good, the shishito skewers are super delicious, and the vibe is pleasant and mellow.

 

Stammtisch: I was a little hesitant to include Stammtisch, as they are technically a kid-friendly establishment (i.e. minors are allowed) BUT they don’t have high chairs or changing tables. (Now that I am a parent, I understand how important high chairs and changing tables are!!!) However, despite their lack of kid amenities, we come here all the time with our baby! She’s still small and is content to sit in our laps while we devour delicious German food and beer. Plus, the servers are always really sweet with Margot and make us feel welcome.

  11. We love happy hour at East Glisan with the toddler. Lots of other families, slices, quick service. Eb & Bean is on my list for a visit before this heat wave is over… which I hope won’t be TOO long.
