Hello friends! What’s happening?! Although still crazy busy at work, I have been able to take some much needed day off to enjoy an afternoon hike in the Gorge with Brice and then spend an absolutely day in McMinnville checking out their new Wine Walk last week. Talk about a spectacular Monday wine tasting, eating great food at Pura Vida Cocina and laughing hysterically (more to come next week on this fabulous little town!). Make sure you’re following me along on Instagram!
Today for #ThursdayToursPDX, we’ve got an awesome line up of Cheap Eats recommendations from Amy of Eating My Way Thru Portland. I have been following Amy via the interwebs for years and finally met her in real life a few months back. One of my favorite parts of this blog is making connections with other food lovers, like Amy. Anyone who has a goal to hit up so many restaurants, food carts and hidden foodie finds gets a thumbs up in my book.
If you don’t follow her blog yet, add it to your reading list. Amy writes about her stops all over town, from prime time locales like Tasty n Sons to hidden gems like Jim and Patty’s in Beaverton, which she included on her Cheap Eats list below. I just found that spot a few weeks ago and was blown away by how great it is. Amy has so many other tips like that, that you don’t want to miss.
Where do you like to find cheap eats?
As always, be sure to head over to Martha Chartreuse for more. Today, she’s got my dear friend Rachel and her fiancee Alex sharing their recommendations and sharing with the world their awesome new ‘Gram account @PDXBANG4BUCK.

Cheap Eats Recommendations by Amy of Eating My Way Thru Portland

We just discovered this place recently and I’m glad I did. This place has crazy cheap eats.
Not only does this place have great cheap eat sandwiches for under $9, but for Happy Hour you can get the same sandwich for just $5. Add a $2.50 Peruvian Beer and you are all set. This is their signature sandwich of pepper rubbed sliced pork, mild chili pepper mayo and salsa criolla. This was a large sandwich, so no small happy hour size here.
I won’t lie, the eats were so cheap we also ordered Papas Felices $5, which is french fries topped with savory, ground chorizo and a creamy pepper sauce. We split everything so it came to $15 (we each had a beer) for the 2 of us.
I had read about the incredibly cheap breakfast at Eclectic Kitchen and even seen that their Biscuits and Gravy were just $6.50. The biscuits are a cream biscuit so very dense and super moist. Some of the best in town, so the biscuits and gravy did not disappoint.
We also ordered the Pulled Pork biscuit sandwich for $7.50. Great sandwich, large in size.
We went on a Saturday morning and there was no wait and great food.
Jim & Patty’s serves up giant biscuit sandwiches. Giant + low price = Perfect Cheap Eats. We both ended up ordering the Egg, Meat and cheese sandwich. I got the chive biscuit (which was great) and we also got the Bagel. This was a quick breakfast, super satisfying and the price was right. Sandwiches were $6 each and our coffee and tea were about $2.50 each.
Did I mention the Biscuits and Gravy with eggs and bacon on top for just $4.95. Haven’t tried it, but I bet its great.
For cheap eats I like to keep my prices right at $10 a person. This one goes a little over, but hear me out. They have house made cocktails on tap for just $5 each or draft beer for $5 each. You can’t pass those up. What place am I talking about? Imperial in Downtown Portland.
First you take a buddy and you each order the Imperial Flat Top Burger for just $6. This is one of our favorite burgers in town, the bun seals the deal on this one. Split a basket of Fries for $3 and then each pick a $5 drink. This meal comes to $25, which is just $2.50(each) over, but you are at a fine dining restaurant in Portland. This restaurant won Restaurant of the year in 2015. So these cheap eats are worth the extra cash.
I don’t even want people to know about this next one, because we go so much. Just to give you an idea of the commitment I should tell you it’s over 30 minutes from our house, yet we go time and time again.
If you go during Happy Hour (11am-6pm) you can get a WHOLE Margherita pizza for just $5 and a draft beer for $3.This is our favorite pizza place in Portland. Also no matter when we go we always get the Margarita so they Happy Hour price is a huge bonus for us.
While you are at it throw in a $7 Kale salad, also the best Kale salad in Portland according to our family.

I’ve been to all of these except for Eclectic and second all her suggestions!. Meanwhile I need to get myself to Eclectic and catch up – I read cream biscuit and did not need to read any further to be convinced

I had never even heard of Eclectic but agree that biscuits sound pretty awesome, so I’m equally as sold.
