Ok seriously Portland, you’ve got to lay off this heat. This is getting absurd. How are you all staying cool? For me, we are lucky to have AC but I also have been eating an unnecessary amount of Halo Top ice cream and experimenting making frosé. Having a frozen blended, boozy beverage really makes up for the furnace-like weather.

Speaking of booze, I recently received a bottle of Bull Run Distilling‘s Single Malt Whiskey and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it – Whiskey Butter Cake. Unlikely Pear Evolution Sparkling Cocktail

Here we are, in the midst of the holiday party season. Between my book club’s annual holiday afternoon tea, a holiday wine crawl, cookie exchange and work parties, I’m already stuffing myself with too many cookies and wines! But ’tis the season, right?! I enjoyed it at Feast‘s Night Market event where Sokol Blosser served it up (where they also taught folks like me to saber a champagne bottle, amazing!). I admit I’m often intimidated by making cocktails, especially ones with syrups. The spiced pear syrup makes this drink outstanding, but it is surprisingly easy to make. Chocolate Mint Smith Tea Latte

Holy cow, is it really Thanksgiving week?! How did that happen? What are you kids up to for the holiday? Hope you’ll be eating lots of delicious food and celebrating with friends or family!

Brice and I are heading down to sunny LA for an impromptu mini-vacay, where we’ll be joining in a Friendsgiving on Thursday, playing by the beach, and (fingers crossed!) getting food at places like Sqirl and Baroo.

While Brice is always trying to escape the rainy days of Oregon winter, I’m occasionally a fan of the dreary skies. I am all about getting cozy in a big scarf and placing myself next to a fireplace with a good book and warm beverage. As I’m not a coffee drinker, I dig the tea latte trend. Similar to your standard latte, it’s got steamed milk mixed with brewed tea rather than espresso. It is creamy, rich and flavorful from the tea. Perfect for a cold day. Continue Reading...
