I am a big-time fruit fiend. So much so Brice has nicknamed me the “fruit predator.” If there is fruit, I will consume it. When it was Hood Strawberry season, I regularly downed pints standing over the sink by myself. Also walking back from the Farmer’s Market. Also driving home from the store. I have problems. I can’t help it. I just really love me some good fruit. That is one reason I always get sad when the fall approaches, not only is it the end of beautiful weather and long days, but also the end of fresh fruit season.
Summertime Cocktails
This insanely beautiful weather calls for some summertime cocktails. Reid, one of the talented bartenders at the chic Driftwood Room inside Hotel Deluxe, made some perfect drinks for the season and generously shared some recipes so you can try these at home. With just a few ingredients, you can class up your BBQ and impress your friends.
If you aren’t in the mood for being your own mixologist, head over to this historic downtown hotel, that has been serving up cocktails to guests and locals alike since the 1950s. Their drinks are made with herbs from their rooftop garden and honey from the Bee Local bees who call the hotel roof home (don’t worry, they don’t usually make an appearance!).
Rhubarb Almond Cake Recipe {Gluten Free}
Are you as excited as I am about the insane produce coming out of the Farmer’s Markets these days? I seriously ate about 10 pints of strawberries in about 2 days this weekend. I think I have an addiction. But sadly given that the delicious, super sweet Hood strawberries are only available for a few weeks, my addiction doesn’t last long, so I might as well get my fill!
I also have been really into the abundance of chard, kale, potatoes and rhubarb. My fridge may not be overflowing with such product but I cannot get enough!
