My brother and sister-in-law came to visit from Maryland earlier this week and I wanted to show them my favorite places in Portland. The weather was drizzly and windy, but that didn’t stop us from taking the stroll over to Lovejoy Bakers. If anything, the cold weather just made the treats that much better.
We got a chocolate banana croissant, which was warmed in the oven so the chocolate and sliced banana were both a little melted. The outside was crispy and flaked perfectly when I cut into it. It was so delicious that I was a tad angry at myself for agreeing to share it (I know I know, I should know better… but we had just eaten our way through Portland since it turns out all of my favorite places are food-related… shocking I know!).
So as much as we might like to deny it, fall and the unfortunate rain that comes with it is quickly approaching… but don’t forget, what makes those dreary rainy days much more bearable is curling up with a warm cup of Oregon chai tea (or coffee if you aren’t like me with a weird aversion to coffee) and of course a delicious fresh-baked pastry from a great place like Lovejoy Bakers.
What made this little outing even better was that my brother just bought an awesome fancy-pants Nikon camera, which takes INCREDIBLE pictures! So enjoy the beautiful photos – unfortunately my cheap point-and-shoot isn’t nearly as great… Thanks Marshall for taking these for me!
