Eesh, these last few weeks have been bonkers. This new job has been B.U.S.Y. busy. In particular readjusting to the commuting back and forth to Hillsboro every day has been challenging. Plus with this beautiful weather we’ve been having, I am still wanting to obviously enjoy the outdoors and spend time with friends. So needless to say, something has got to give. For me, sadly, sometimes that thing is cooking myself dinner (and also Thursday Tours – sorry, we haven’t gotten one to you in a while, promise we more awesome posts coming at ya soon!).
I do enjoy cooking and often, it is a great de-stresser from the days. But some days, it is more of a chore, especially when I’ve finished at the gym and sat in traffic and am nearing the point of hangry. Then I just need food in my belly! No time for chopping vegetables!
I admit, sometimes that has equated to me staring longingly into my refrigerator, waiting for something miraculous to happen. But when I am a tad more coherent, I take advantage of the great take-out and delivery options that are available instead. I have shared my favorites on Martha Chartreuse for today’s Thursday Tours edition, so go give that a read after you check out Meredith’s recs right here!
I look forward to hearing what you guys do on those nights you don’t have the time or energy to prepare a full dinner. Any hot places we didn’t mention?!

Convenient Eats Recommendations by Meredith Davison of Martha Chartreuse:
Babes-o-Bingo!! Things have been crazy lately and picking my time-battles has been very real. Instead of cooking every night I am prepping two main things, counting on leftovers and turning to takeout and delivery. A lot!
Habibi – Located in downtown Portland, Habibi serves up some really excellent Mediterranean food which I order through Prime Now. I have an Amazon Prime account and the Portland has the Prime Now service. Delivery is free and requires a $20 minimum with the option to tip. My favorite menu items include artichokes in red sauce (tangy and filling), lamb kabab and any of the mezza platters.
Mi Mero Mole – Caviar always helps me out, and Mi Mero Mole is a favorite! I almost always order gabacho bowl with meatballs or chicken. It is filling, comes with chips and has the tastiest picked red onions.
New Seasons – When I feel like cooking but not like prepping I ALWAYS turn to New Seasons! I have a tendency to pick up kebabs or sausages, premade salads and wine. The sausage and kebabs (go to the meat counter) can get really interesting – thai curry sausage is always a favorite.

New Seasons is great for their prepared foods – and then you almost feel like you’re cooking because you went to the grocery store. 🙂

I’m glad to hear that I am not the only person that states into my fridge hoping for a miraculous meal to appear.

Ha! Glad I’m not the only one either! If only something would just create itself out of the ingredients in there. Perhaps in like 30 years that will be the new technology??

I have not been in any mood to cook as of late and life is busy and about to get busier… I have really been liking Pizza Schmizza Pub and Grub. We sit at the bar. Order pasta and beer, sometimes add a greek salad. It is simple, yummy and cheap. I used to like exploring new spots but it is nice to have a place where they know you by name.
With the weather getting nicer I am excited to eat outside!

Man, Prime Now is AWESOME. I love it so much. I didn’t know that you could get full pre-cooked meals. I used it recently to order some items for a friend who was sick and across town. It worked great!
