Our latest installment of #ThursdayToursPDX is all about lunch. Who says going out to eat in this city should be limited to dinner or brunch?! The midday meal is just as important.
Chloe of the beautiful blog, The Paper Airplane is here to share her favorites. Her blog is all about travel, food, shopping, hiking and all sorts of other adventures. She takes some gorgeous photos so you should also follow her on Instagram if you don’t already!
And don’t forget to head on over to Meredith’s blog Martha Chartreuse to read the recommendations from Natalie of Twelfth Avenue blog.

There are so many great restaurant in the Rose City, that it’s hard to choose a favorite place for lunch! No matter what neighborhood you’re in, there’s a little bit of something for everyone. Here are my favorite lunch spots around the city and tips for ordering like a Portland local.
SW
When in the Pearl, Lardo does sandwiches like only Portland can. This is not your average BLT. Lardo’s sandwiches combine the best ingredients with off-the-wall flavors.
Order like a local: Chefwich of the week, a local craft beer, and the dirty fries.
1205 SW Washington & 12th Ave
SE
With humble beginnings as a food cart, Nong’s year old brick-and-mortar may be the most essential of all Portland lunches. It’s fast, it’s casual, and it’s the best chicken and rice that you’ll ever eat. The classic Khao Man Gai has a cult following and it’s safe to say that it’s Portland’s favorite comfort food. Be sure to stop by around 11:30 am or closer to 1 pm to miss the lunch rush.
Order like a local: The Khao Man Gai, of course.
609 SE Ankeny St Suite C & 6th Ave
NW
Olympia Provisions is my go-to pick for a classy but laid-back lunch. The modern and bright restaurant serves seriously delicious (and award-winning) meats from the Olympia Provisions salumeria. Don’t even think about skipping the charcuterie boards.
Order like a local: Anything and everything with meat.
1632 NW Thurman & 16th Ave
NE
Mirakutei is perfect for days when you feel like escaping the Portland rain and slurping up a warm bowl of ramen. It’s my favorite spot to go if I’m dining solo and need a break.
Order like a local: Tonkotsu ramen with an extra poached egg.

Now that they have been reminded, my belly and my head are both going to prod me until I make a trip to Nong’s. Great recommendations.

Lunch is an awesome time to dine out! Especially if you can make it more leisurely than a quick bite.

I was just saying to my husband that he needs to take me to Nong’s. He used to work just around the corner so he went pretty frequently but I have yet to try it!
