One word I would never use to describe myself is “spontaneous.” I am very far from spontaneous, in fact. The idea of having something not planned makes me incredibly anxious. Not only that, I just really love checklists. Crossing something off a to-do list is one of the best feelings ever in my opinion. (And yes, between you and me, I have been known to put things on a list that I’ve already done, just to cross them off and make myself feel accomplished. I’m pathetic, I know).
Cranberry Sauce White Chocolate Oat Cake
Happy week after Thanksgiving! Hope you all had a great holiday!
We had such a great day and had a wonderful time hosting for the first year.
I got really excited about decorating our place. Especially since my mom lent me all of her Thanksgiving decorations to make everything extra festive, like these amazing turkey napkin holders.
We had an insanely good potluck feast. Turkey, cornbread stuffing, corn casserole, sweet potatoes, green beans, brussel sprouts. To make sure we had enough meat, our friend Grant even brought over some brisket. There was a lot of food for our group of 8.
Our Trial Run Thanksgiving
Ok, I have to brag a little – we did the trial-run turkey I was talking about and it actually turned out FANTASTIC!
For some reason I was really nervous about it. But it actually wasn’t that hard! I don’t really know why I was so freaked out about it. Though we did have some learning points, which is good. That was the whole point of this exercise.
We were even extremely unprepared – Brice picked up the turkey after work on a Friday at 7pm. Yes, we decided to roast a turkey at 7pm on a Friday. We are weird.
