Walking through the Orenco Station Farmer’s Market in mid-October is like walking through a storybook town. The lawns of the charming townhouses are buried beneath bright orange and yellow leaves. Pumpkins line the sidewalks and are sold from little red wagons. Killer White Chocolate Frosting

I made my friend Jenna a super tasty layered chocolate cake with white chocolate frosting for her birthday. The cake, which was from a Saint Cupcake recipe, is light, fluffy and rich, just the way a cake should be. I have been asked not to share the recipe since it will soon be in a Saint Cupcake cookbook (which will be fabulous!), but here is the frosting recipe! It is creamy, buttery and just a tad chocolately.

Remember those glorious days from childhood when you would get three months off in the summer or even just “Spring Break,” that wonderful week of nothing to do but sleep in and hang out with friends?  Ahh, the luxuries of adolescence that are never fully appreciated…  Now I eagerly await those random days off here and there where I can relive those moments. 

This past Monday, I had a company-paid day off to “celebrate” President’s Day and decided to have it be like those golden days – sleeping in, lunch with a friend and lots of time spent relaxing.  Seemed almost too fitting that I would go to a place called Blue Collar Baking, which sells items with working-man names like the “Lunch Whistle.” Continue Reading...
