There once upon a time was this magical little place in SE Portland called St Jack Patisserie. It was the bakery of the acclaimed restaurant when it existed off Clinton Street. I loved all of it. The freshly baked baguettes, the made-to-order madeleines, the crisp caneles, the feeling that you had just stumbled into a French countryside cafe. Two weeks ago, to close out our super fun long weekend in Eugene, Brice and I got to enjoy a special dinner at Remedy Wine Bar, courtesy of Little Green Pickle. I was eager to check out their new menu put together by Chef Lucas Parsley, who joined the Remedy team in February.

Now that I’m getting a little older, the idea of staying out past 10pm and drinking the night away just doesn’t sound so appealing. And a hangover? No thanks. Speaking of Forktown, just a few weeks ago, I took my mom on one of their tours that strolls down Mississippi Avenue. Despite the fact that my mom has lived in the Portland-metro neighborhood for almost 40 years, she has probably been to the east side only a handful of times. As a fellow food lover, I knew she would have a great time on a food tour and assumed (correctly) that she hadn’t been to any of the stops on the Mississippi tour.
