My favorite part of trip planning is figuring out where to eat (like my current scheming for a trip to Santa Fe! Anyone have suggestions?!). I love doing a lot while traveling but really it’s almost all about the food for me. My suggestions will often be “first we go to this cafe for breakfast, then hit up this bakery, next late lunch here, then drinks at this cool bar, followed by dinner at this great restaurant.” The sight-seeing is sometimes just a way to work up an appetite for the next meal.
Stop, It’s Churro Time: 180x Xurros + Xocolata
2218 NE Broadway + 22nd • 180pdx.com • @180pdx
Hours: Daily 8am-4pm
If you’ve been following the Portland ‘Gram scene at all lately, you know there is something big going on with churros (like this or this). Yes, churros are those fried dough sticks you commonly see at the fair. But of course, these are not those greasy messes that make you regret what you ordered. At 180, these are super gourmet, authentic Spanish “xurros” (that’s how the Catalans spell it). Fluffy dough that is fried to order in front of your eyes, then rolled in cinnamon and sugar or dipped rich chocolate, or even stuffed with the filling of your choice.
Thursday Tours: Galentine’s Day
In preparation for February 14th, we are bringing you two Thursday Tours themed for celebrating love! Personally, I’ll be spending the day hitting the ski slopes in Bend with some of my favorite people. Why not share the love, am I right? Like why not celebrate with your favorite lady friend?!
That’s why we are bringing you the Galentine’s Day edition of Thursday Tours! We’ve got the darling Alexa Darrow of Little Green Pickle PR firm to share her faves. Alexa is awesome fun and while she’s only been in Portland for about a year, she knows fantastic places to good all over town for meals or drinks. She offers you a day of assured fun – from brunch to beers to dinner to late night shenanigans. Now that sounds like a good Valentine’s!
