Thursday Tours: Feast Chef Favorites

Well, after 6 weeks of adventures, I’m back at work… While that isn’t nearly as fun as frolicking around Europe, it is nice to be back home in Portland, back in my cozy bed and not living out of a suitcase (more to come on my sabbatical travels soon!). Plus, I’m back just in time for Feast! I can’t believe the four-day massive food fest begins in seven days. For foodie lovers like myself, it is like being a kid in a candy store all week.

One of the dishes from Feast 2014 still stands out in my mind. The dish? An incredible egg topped kimchi fried rice enjoyed at Brunch Village and made by LA’s EggSlut. Yes, that is truly their name. Have you seen those crazy predictions of what Portland will look like in a few years? There was one in Portland Monthly about a year back that had a drawing of the skyline in 2035. It was insane, filled with huge skyscrapers dotting both sides of the river. The biggest change appeared to be in the Lloyd Center and central Eastside areas.

It is sometimes hard to believe how much this city is changing and how rapidly it is growing. Especially as one of the seemingly few native Portlanders, it is definitely a different landscape than even a few years back and with the construction everywhere, it will just continue to expand. Happy birthday, Blog!

That is pretty crazy. I started Bakery Bingo in 2011 as a somewhat impromptu decision while traveling through NYC on vacation, with the goal of sharing my favorite bakeries with the world. Things have changed a bit with a greater focus on restaurants (turns out I can’t just eat sweets all day every day, damn…) and food events in Portland.
