I am on the continual look out for cute coffee shop/sandwich joints. I don’t know if it’s because working from home has made me more inclined to pop into places like that to work for the day or for an afternoon break. But I am a big fan of anywhere with delicious food and a cozy, casual atmosphere. Enter Milk Glass Mrkt.

This last week was one of incredible meals. I often get asked “where have you eaten that was really good recently?” Sometimes I have a total blank and need to consult my Instagram to even remember. Not just because I am out and about so much and my memory is just not that great, but also because while I’ve had good meals, none that really stick out. This week however was the exact opposite. There once upon a time was this magical little place in SE Portland called St Jack Patisserie. It was the bakery of the acclaimed restaurant when it existed off Clinton Street. I loved all of it. The freshly baked baguettes, the made-to-order madeleines, the crisp caneles, the feeling that you had just stumbled into a French countryside cafe. Then sadly, St Jack closed its doors and moved to the other side of the river, which was great but they didn’t bring the patisserie with them. I was crushed. Continue Reading...
