Well this week has gotten interesting, hasn’t it? As you may know, my full time gig is working at Intel out in Hillsboro. So needless to say, Wednesday got a bit funky for me. After spending a few hours at the gym and grabbing dinner in an attempt to wait out the traffic, it appeared that was a lost cause. Google Maps still showed dark red everywhere with an expectation of 2+ hours home! My friend Rachel and her husband Alex were superstars and generously let us be unexpected house guests super late at night. So at least we didn’t need to sleep in our car!
McMinnville Wine Walk
Eeks, I’ve almost made it! Just one more day of work, then I am off until the day after Labor Day! Yippee! I’ve got a celebratory dinner with Brice at one of my new favorite restaurants, Lechon, then I’m off to Utah for a hiking trip on Sunday before heading off to Europe for a month. Be sure to follow my adventures at @bakery_bingo.
If I were to be staying in Oregon for the full summer though, one of my top activities in this area is wine tasting. Enjoying the gorgeous views, beautiful weather and delicious wine is a delightful way to spend a summer day. I usually head out to the wineries in the Willamette Valley. Anne Amie and Domaine Drouhin being two of my go-to picks. I love seeing the vineyard and being out in the countryside.

Today, my friend Summer is here to share a little bit about Oak Knoll Winery, one of Oregon’s oldest wineries with tons of great wines!
Summer is definitely falls into the category of “foodie” friends, always willing to check out a new restaurant or splurge on a quality meal. She also has a great sense of wine that continually inspires me to learn more. She is finishing up her MBA program at Portland State University and got to do one of her class projects with Oak Knoll, helping them with their marketing. Seriously, such a cool project. Something like that would make me almost considering going back to school!
