We are seriously so spoiled here in the NW. Over 400 world-class wineries all within an hour drive of downtown? Amazing. While I am still very much a novice in regards to my wine knowledge, I love to learn about wine making and of course try new wines.
Last summer at the Sauvie Island Center’s Annual Barn Dance, I won a private tour and tasting at Dobbes Family Estate. As they make beautiful reds under their namesake label and also one of my personal staples, Wine by Joe, I was pretty excited. Plus we were going to get a visit during harvest season, so there was lots to see and learn.
This was the perfect excuse to create a group trip out to the wineries. With 7 lovely ladies in tow, we either needed either 2 cars (and consequently 2 DD’s) or find another transportation option. To make the day more fun, we decided to go big and choose the limo route. I mean, who doesn’t want to go rolling into the wineries in a limo?!
Bridge City Limos to the rescue!
This local Portland company totally took care of us. With a fleet of limo options, experience doing wine tours, and great employees to make the scheduling easy, they were a great choice.
Our awesome driver Nick picked us all up in NW (Yes! They go all the way downtown!), helped get our somewhat chaotic bunch all organized and off we went. After popping a few bottles of champagne to get the day going, we were on our way in the comfy 8-seater stretch limo.
Because you can’t just do one winery when you’re down there, we added stops to the brand-new Argyle tasting room and to Hyland Estates. After sampling Hyland’s wine at Feast Portland, I was eager to check out their winery. Their wines, using grapes from the Willamette Valley just 20 minutes from the tasting room, were fabulous, especially their richer pinot. Their almost-hidden winery off 99W in Dundee was a beautiful space for a picnic (though there was a bit of the farm smells going on…).
We did not mess around with the potluck picnic. Olympia Provisions charcuterie, a fancy cheese plate, salads, caprese salad sandwiches, homemade cookies. We brought our serious lunch A-game.
Nick graciously took up our offer to join us for a few minutes. He didn’t seem too enthused with our conversation of The Mindy Project and Broadway shows, but he took it all in stride before politely telling us to finish up so we could keep to our schedule for the day.
After quite a bit of wine, the limo ride home became our very own karaoke bar. Disney, showtunes and Taylor Swift were of course all on the playlist. And this new Macklemore song? Totally digging it (especially as I now always picture Olivia belting out the chorus). Nick – you are a saint for showing such patience with our horrible singing and not putting up the partition.
We at least were sober enough to not do anything too stupid once we discovered there was a sunroof!
Thank you Bridge City Limos for making our day extra great. Style AND safety. Can’t beat that.
Looking for a limo for any reason? Go check out Bridge City. They rock. {Note: don’t get them confused with their competitor Bridge City Rides.}

Also give Meredith’s blog a read for two great posts on our day!
Disclaimer: Bridge City Limos did provide us with the limo at no cost. But as always, all opinions are my own. Bridge City Limos was really great.

This is hands down my favorite activity here in the northwest. There are just so many unique flavors, views and environments and are so much fun to do with the girls. I have been to these wineries before and liked them very much. Always wondered who I should use for limo service, so thanks for sharing that part…

Some of the limo outfits are better than others, so I’m glad to hear such great things about Bridge City Limos. I will put them on our list for the next time we book a tour. Thanks!

I’ve always wanted to do this! (Well, everything but the karaoke part – that would not be pretty.) Putting it back on the list for when friends come to Portland…!
