So crazy to think that not only are we finally back from our trip, but it is also 2015! Wow, time really flies.

I feel lucky to say that 2014 was a great year. Sure, like always, there were some pain points along the way. But overall, it was a wonderful year!

Travel – I’m sure this part goes without saying. Brice and I had such an incredible experience traveling through Asia. I feel so lucky to have had that opportunity.

Friendships – I made some amazing new friends this year and feel so blessed to have sustained my lifelong friends as well. Continue Reading...

Happy post Thanksgiving everyone! I enjoyed a surprisingly traditional and delicious Thanksgiving meal from an awesome restaurant, Stacked in Koh Samui. Talk about an international holiday – an American meal made by Thai chefs in an Australian owned restaurant! But it was really good food and nice to get a little bit of “home” while beign away.

Hope you all had a great holiday as well!

We are now in Vietnam, joining a tour group today to Ha Long Bay for two nights, then we all go on a weeklong journey down the coast. We will be trekking, biking, motorscootering, seeing the DMZ, staying in a homestay, and all sorts of other adventures along the way until we make it to Hoi An! Instagram Tips – Guest Post: Hummingbird High

After scouring the weather reports and trying to decide what we wanted to do post-Bangkok, Brice and I decided to head to northern Thailand for some lowkey pool time, trekking in the jungle and playing with elephants! We were also on the mission for cooler weather after the insane humidity of Bangkok – even at 11pm it would still be hot. (I know I shouldn’t complain after the “snowpocalypse” freakout in Portland!)

We spent 5 nights in Chiang Rai, which is in the “Golden Triangle” named for being where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) meet. One of the hotels we were at you could literally see all three countries from the room! This area is best known for … opium. Apparently until the last 10 or so years, it was the world’s largest source for opium and heroin. Yippee! (Now Afghanistan has that lucky claim.) The area is trying to improve its image and become a haven for elephant rescue foundations and jungle trekking instead. Continue Reading...
