The other day I received an email from Chloe of Little Green Pickle inviting me to “A Spark of Spring on Friendsday Night” at 8pm last Wednesday at the Eastside Exchange Rooftop. The description was brief, there would be “bites from Chef Naomi Pomeroy of Beast, original cocktails from mixologist Kyle Webster of Expatriate, and upbeat songs from Fort Atlantic, all while sipping on some IZZE Sparkling Juice.”

One of the biggest downsides when I quit my job as an accountant for McCormick & Schmick’s Restaurants a few years back to take a job at a tech company in Hillsboro was that I would have to leave the amazing food scene downtown. We had so many incredible lunch options – from all of the food carts (my favorites being Nong’s Kao Man Ghai and Addy’s Sandwich Bar) to the more leisurely sit down lunches at Andina, Paragon and the Heathman. It is January, right? I ask because man, it was beautiful out all weekend. The sun was shining, it wasn’t too cold, completely wonderful for a late-January day in Oregon. Brice and I even postponed our annual winter “trip to the sun” because it was so nice here that we didn’t feel we’d need our little escape to Phoenix.

But despite the gorgeous weather, I was completely lazy all day Sunday – slept in, made brunch, took a nap, watched a movie. Perhaps it was just catch up after last weekend’s awesome but busy trip to Park City, or perhaps it was just a chocolate-coma from the Theo Chocolate for Congo Benefit at Little Bird on Saturday.
