Well hello October! What a busy but wonderful end of the summer. August and September were filled with tons of events, restaurant outings, family visits and trips.
I admit it is kind of nice to have the fall here with a quieter schedule and rainy days spent curled up on the couch. Here are some of the highlights from the last two months.
Summiting Mt St Helens. 9 friends, 8.5 hours, 10 miles, 4,300 feet elevation gain, and one incredible view from the top of the volcanic crater!
Spot-on ramen from Kukai. Sure, you have to trek out to Beaverton and there can be a real long wait on weekends, but this Japanese-based restaurant serves up real good ramen.
Touring around Portland with my brother. It was so awesome hanging out with my brother while he was visiting from Japan. We spent the weekend checking out breweries like Loyal Legion, hiking in Forest Park and playing around at Sky High Sports.
Labor Day wine tasting. Wonderful wines and beautiful views at Sokol Blosser and Stoller Vineyards.
Homemade S’mores from Nineteen 27 S’mores. Yes, yes, yes. They now have a cart on NW 23rd & Kearney. Let’s all go.
Feast. Enough said. But if it isn’t, check out my blog posts here and here about it.
The best birthday celebrations. Cake with my parents, an incredible meal at Farm Spirit, a taco party with friends and then a great dinner with girl friends at the always fabulous Imperial.
Visit to Boise. Who knew Boise was so fun?! We went for a quick trip to visit some friends who live there now. Between the beautiful mountains and great food, I was really impressed by this Idaho town. My favorites were the fantastic sandwiches and house made sodas from Bleubird, the craft donuts from Guru Donuts, and Bodovino wine bar with 144 bottles on tap that you can “pour” yourself.
Insanely good dinner from Renata. I closed out the month with dinner at the raved about new Italian restaurant. I know understand the hype. Whatever you do, make sure you order all the pastas. So so good.
How did you spend the last few weeks of summer? Anything fun on the calendar for fall?

Aww, thank you so much Rachel! That is such a sweet comment. And yes, it’s fun seeing how far my photography has come. I definitely have a lot more to learn and am excited to keep practicing! You seriously need to get to Kukai, you’d love it!

I got winded just LOOKING at that St. Helen’s crater pic. Glad to see you had an eventful summer!

Ha! It was worth it though! As was the Blizzard at Dairy Queen when we finished 🙂

I bet summiting Mt. Helens was incredible! That is definitely on my bucket list to do. It looks like you had a great August and September!

It was an incredible experience. I definitely recommend it! Just be sure you mark your calendar to get passes since that has to be done in February. It’s kind of like getting concert tickets. It requires being at the computer ready to click “submit” months in advance! But so worth it!
