Foodie Film Out Now – Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent

If you’re anything like the food-obsessed weirdo that I am, you love watching food movies, reading about restaurant drama and gawking when you see chef celebrities in real life. From the amazingly gorgeous Netflix documentary series Chef’s Table to the entertaining competition shows like Top Chef to even the not-so-good movies like Burnt, I am totally a sucker for anything food-related.

The latest is Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent, a documentary all about the relatively unknown chef who helmed the kitchen when the famed Alice Waters opened Chez Panisse in the 1970s. Continue Reading...

The Countdown Begins to Feast 2017

Well hey there, summer. I’ve missed you. Sunshine, patio parties, hiking, rose, dining outside, soaking up all the vitamin D we’ve been lacking for months – these are all my favorite seasonal things.

One of my other favorite summer activities is Feast Portland, the four days when excessively stuffing your face with incredible food and drink is not only acceptable but encouraged. The food festival is now entering year 6 (jeez, time flies…). From the marquee events like Night Market and Smoked, to educational series on wines and hands-on cooking classes, to specialty small dinners with top chefs from around the world, there’s no wrong way to Feast. Best of Portland – 2017 Edition Part I

Summer is quickly approaching (it is, right? Please tell me yes, I can’t handle much more of this winter!), and with that comes the perfect opportunity to frolic through Portland, whether you are a local enjoying the Portland bounty or a tourist checking out all this hipster city has to offer. But how to cram it all in with incredible nearby hiking, glorious farmer’s markets, and so many good coffee shops, breweries, bakeries and restaurants?!

In order to help ease this task, last year I wrote up a two part Best of Portland Tour post (re-read Part I and Part II now!) with my favorites by neighborhood.
