Saturday (Downtown/South Waterfront):

Breakfast at Seastar Bakery: head back to North Portland for a quick stop at my favorite bakery these days. I love their breads made in-house in their wood-fired oven with whole grains like spelt and red wheat. My go-to is the seasonal roasted veggies and oven-fried egg atop a slice of warmed sweet rosemary cornbread. Plus Seastar rarely has a line, even on weekends, double bonus! Continue Reading...

Best of Portland Tour: Part I

I am obviously biased, as I am a born and bred Portlander, but I strongly believe Portland is one of the best cities in America.

Sure, the traffic and rent prices are both getting outrageous. There is a rampant homeless problem these days. And yes, Portlandia is really not that far from reality with the mix of bearded and tattooed hipsters, angry bicyclists and hippies (but that quirkiness is definitely part of the charm!).

All that aside though, there is beautiful scenery with the mountains, the coast and wine country at our fingertips. Tons of outdoor activities and friendly people. Amazing food, beer, coffee, tea, all of which is locally made and (comparatively) affordable. And don’t you dare tell me, there is anywhere near as heavenly as a 75-degree summer day here. Top Eats of 2015

Here we are, almost half way through the first month of 2016. Eesh, how’d that happen?! Didn’t 2015 just fly by?

It was fun digging through photos and posts from this past year. From a non-food perspective, lots of domestic travels to Victoria, Boise and a girls trip to Southern Oregon topped the list in 2015, as did summiting Mt St Helens, my brother visiting Portland for the first time in years, lots of wine tasting, and competing in a team Crossift competition.

Bakery Bingo turned 4 in 2015 and what a year. I am so thrilled I got to be a photographer for Feast Portland again, participate in several amazing blogger events, be a guest on two episodes of the Right at the Fork podcast, and start up #ThursdayToursPDX with Meredith. Continue Reading...
