Here we are, almost half way through the first month of 2016. Eesh, how’d that happen?! Didn’t 2015 just fly by?

It was fun digging through photos and posts from this past year. From a non-food perspective, lots of domestic travels to Victoria, Boise and a girls trip to Southern Oregon topped the list in 2015, as did summiting Mt St Helens, my brother visiting Portland for the first time in years, lots of wine tasting, and competing in a team Crossift competition.

August + September Favorites

Well hello October! What a busy but wonderful end of the summer. August and September were filled with tons of events, restaurant outings, family visits and trips.

I admit it is kind of nice to have the fall here with a quieter schedule and rainy days spent curled up on the couch. Here are some of the highlights from the last two months.

Staring Into the Crater

Summiting Mt St Helens. 9 friends, 8.5 hours, 10 miles, 4,300 feet elevation gain, and one incredible view from the top of the volcanic crater!

Kukai

Spot-on ramen from Kukai. Sure, you have to trek out to Beaverton and there can be a real long wait on weekends, but this Japanese-based restaurant serves up real good ramen. Continue Reading...

Hello, my name is Erin and I have now gone 15 days since my last Feast event. I admit I might still be having withdrawals. Bring me back to the land of an absurd amount of food and drinks!

Bakery Bingo_Sandwich-4

One of the best parts of Feast is not just that you get to eat all of this food (obviously amazing!), but that you get to meet and interact with the chefs who are creating the dishes for you. My mom was so surprised and impressed when she saw Chef Vitaly actually plating her dish at Sandwich Invitational. I had to explain that they were all there – chefs from Portland and chefs brought in from around the nation and the world. These talented, hard-working professionals were not just handing off the work to their low-level employees but they were there to represent their craft and most importantly, have fun.
